Landscape
This is when a non-square piece of paper is printed so the longest edges are at the top and bottom, as opposed to the sides. Here is an example of a landscape wedding invitation, and here is an example of a folded wedding thank you card with multiple photos.
Lithographic printing
Lithographic printing is a very old printing technique, although of course the presses that modern printers use today is incredibly complex. In lithographic printing, large plates are engraved with different colour elements of a design: cyan, yellow, magenta and black. When the relevant ink is rolled onto the corresponding plate and then pressed onto a section of paper, the stacked images equate to the artwork being printed.
As you might expect, the setup cost for lithographic printing is incredibly high, so as a process it is much more suited to long print runs. As a company, we deal with far smaller print runs on average (e.g. 100 wedding invitations) than is economical on a lithographic printer. Subsequently, we operate a state-of-the-art digital print press (and HP Indigo 10,000) which delivers the same quality and a far more affordable price.
