Beyond the wedding stationery printing though, we have some great ideas for how to hold a great beach wedding.
Many couples dream of getting married on the beach, and it is a reality for lots of them. Generally, this means you are having a destination wedding and leaving the UK in which case it may be a small affair with only close family attending. But there are certain things you should make sure of in order that your guests are prepared for the fact that this is an outdoor wedding.
Dress Code
When you’re getting married on the beach the dress code is slightly different. Obviously your guests will be walking through the sand, so they may want to put some deep thought into what they wear as it is not your standard UK church wedding. Many couples provide flip-flops in case guests have forgotten to bring their own, and obviously barefoot is recommended. As you come off the sand back into wherever you will be holding the reception; it is a nice touch to provide some soft bristled brushes to wipe the sand from their feet.
Added Extras
Sunglasses are highly recommended as a long day in the sun can play havoc with the eyes. Information such as this can be in given to guest in your wedding information insert. Similarly, it is nice to ensure that you have some form of shade, and perhaps some cold drinks on offer for those who are finding it rather hot. And refreshing drinks can be listed in your personalised wedding day menu. But of course, be aware that some tropical destinations also get chilly at night, so again some couples have a range of blankets and shawls on offer.
Take Care of the Logistics
If you’re booking a wedding with a package type deal you are likely to find that the proper beach permits, where needed, have been dealt with for you. But don’t overlook this detail and make sure it has been taken care of. People often forget how noisy it can be with the sound of the waves crashing. It is lovely but it does mean that if there are several guests your officiant might not be heard so make sure there is a microphone provided.
Standing Room Only?
For an intimate wedding with a few people gathered around, you want to keep the ceremony short as people will be standing. If you want a longer ceremony you will need to make sure seating is provided. No decoration is needed as you have the most amazing backdrop, but some people like to have some form of arch as the focal point for the bride and groom and the officiant to stand in front of.
Have a Back Up
With the best will in the world all outdoor weddings are subject to Mother Nature. Sadly, there could be sunshine for every other day of the year, except the day you want to say ‘I do’. Check with the venue as to their plan should the worst happen, and the weather not be in your favour. It probably won’t happen especially if you are on a destination wedding, but one can never be too careful, and you don’t want anything to spoil your big day
